2011 Student Grads Can Use TT Designation

If you are a student member and graduated in 2011, your membership has automatically rolled into a Technologist in Training (TT) and you are eligible to use the designation accordingly, effective your graduation date.
National Organization Moves Forward

ASET is now officially united with provincial technology associations in British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Ontario as signatories to Technology Professionals Canada (TPC). This national organization represents over 85 per cent of all certified engineering and applied science technology professionals in Canada.

At the October 29, 2010 meeting, Council approved the motion to maintain membership dues and fees for 2011 at the current 2010 levels. To pay dues online, click on the Member Dues button at the lower right area of this page.
Please note that completion of CPD is not required to pay membership dues at this time. However, completion of CPD will be required before December 31, 2011.

Thanks to the 1246 members who voluntarily responded to the survey!
Average base salaries for ASET members remained constant, relative to the previous year. However, overtime pay and bonuses fell considerably for many members. Read the full report online or in the upcoming issue of Technology Alberta.
New P.Tech.(Eng.) Members to Receive Designations by Year End

The P.Tech.(Eng.) process is moving forward. ASET and APEGGA have appointed their committee members and the committee is waiting for the provincial government to name the public member. We expect to see some members with the new P.Tech.(Eng.) designations practising before the end of the year!

After lengthy deliberation at its meeting on March 26, 2010, ASET Council voted to sever its association with the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists, CCTT, in favor of creating a new national partnership with other provincial associations which have also recently decided to end their association with CCTT.
