As part of ASET’s transition under the new Professional Governance Act, ASET is making changes to its programs to ensure full compliance with legislation.
After careful consideration and a review of Alberta's evolving regulatory landscape, ASET will discontinue the ASET Career Centre (ACC). This decision is part of our effort to ensure that ASET focuses solely on its primary responsibilities: protecting the public, setting professional standards, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The provision of job postings and career services is no longer within the scope of ASET’s regulatory function.
Why is the Career Centre Closing?
- Regulatory Framework Changes: Bill 40 (Professional Governance Act) reinforces that providing job boards falls outside of the role of a regulatory body.
- Fiscal Stewardship: The ongoing investment in the ACC no longer reflects sound financial management.
- Limited Regulatory Impact: The ACC does not support internal controls or advance policy decisions that help achieve regulatory outcomes.
We understand that many of our registrants have relied on the ACC for career development and job opportunities. While this service will no longer be available, we encourage you to explore other external resources available through trade associations, career platforms and discipline-specific job boards.
ASET will be contacting employers who have previously purchased job posting credits to arrange refunds.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Shaz Haque, Corporate Relations Manager. We are committed to supporting you through this transition and thank you for your understanding and continued support.
